Tom Rimmington
Guitar Teacher
Workshop Practitioner
Starting with a strong influence from classic hard rock and heavy metal bands including Metallica, Black Sabbath and AC/DC, Tom picked up his first guitar at age 14. By the age of 16, Tom had recorded an album with his first band Scimitar and hit the gigging scene, while studying GCSEs at Plymouth’s Devonport High School for Boys.
Following his GCSEs, Tom studied Performing Arts: Modern Music at City College Plymouth, studying under lecturer Joanna Walling, and achieving a BTEC Nation Diploma and National Award.
After college, Tom spent a couple years working as a manager in a popular chain restaurant in Plymouth, playing in and gigging with different bands and focusing on his guitar playing, developing a taste for all different styles of music; including Fusion, Classical, Death Metal and Jazz!
During the summer of 2010, Tom was made aware of a position available at the school for guitar teacher at JJ’s Music School in Newton Abbot, and was offered the position after an interview.
Now 21, in his spare time, Tom is working on a solo album, which is being recorded at his home studio. Other future plans include writing/recording an instructional video and setting up guitar-based workshops.
