Grade 5 Theory 2012 Bootcamp
Get 26 hours tuition for the price of 8 plus unlimited marking of pass papers until the exam.
When:
- 2-5th April 2012 9-5pm (June exam)
OR
- 28-31st Aug 2012 9-5pm (November exam)
Only one four day course is required to take the exams.

Who:
- The course is delivered by Joanna Walling BMus (Hons), PGCE (PCE) Owner of JJ’s Music School
- Joanna wrote and delivered the fast track theory course at the Junior Birmingham Conservatoire and has successfully put students in for the Grade 5 Theory course for 14 years.
- 2011 - all candidates receiving distinction for their grade 5 theory!
What:
- This course prepares students for their Grade 5 theory exam in June OR November 2012
- The theory syllabus followed is London College Popular Theory Exams.
- Grade 5 Theory of Music is an accredited exam and is on the NQF Level 2.
Why:
- Students that wish to take Grade 6 or above on their instrument cannot do so until they have passed Grade 5 theory (for most exam boards).
- Taking a music theory exam consolidates and expands the students's knowledge and understanding of musical notation and fundamentals. This is essential for the performer and/or composer.
How:
- All aspects of the Grade 5 Theory exam will be covered on the four day boot camp course.
- Students will complete exercises throughout the day to ensure full understanding.
- Once the boot camp course is complete, students may post as many pass papers to Joanna for marking and feedback before the exam.
Prerequisites:
- Students must be at least Grade 3 standard on their instrument.
- Students must be at least 14 years old (applicants under the age of 14 will be considered but must have an informal discussion with Joanna before being accepted).
- Students must attend ALL four days.
- Students must complete all exercises given and complete pass papers weekly between the course and the exam.
Cost:
- 27 hours tuition should cost £810. Get 27 hours tuition for the price of 8 plus unlimited marking of pass papers until the exam!!
- The course fee is £240. This includes all resources including a workbook, model answers and a set of pass papers. This fee is due by the 2nd March 2012 (June exam) OR 28th July 2012 (November exam).
- The exam fee is an additional £44 due by 10th April 2012 OR 10th September 2012. (This can be paid at the same time as the course fee.)

- The exam will be held in Newton Abbot on the following dates:
